At the Rae and Joseph Gann Beth El Preschool of Newton our primary aim is to foster positive self-image, strong self-esteem, self-reliance, confidence and independence in each child. Our goal is for the children to identify strongly with and actively incorporate Jewish values and traditions in their day-to-day life.

|
Our school provides a warm and caring environment in which our young children feel safe and nurtured. It is a home away from home where the children have their first opportunity to explore the "outside" world in the comfort of a protective and loving setting. Our preschool provides the children with a place where they get the opportunity to start expanding their worldview and their social circles.
Each child is a universe of his/her own which blossoms at a unique pace and direction. We facilitate and safeguard the growth and development of the children's natural development while grounding them in Jewish principles and traditions, and fostering their growth in areas of social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Jewish Philosophy Statement

Our goal at the Rae and Joseph Gann Preschool is to help our families expose their children to the values, concepts, and ideals of our Jewish heritage. Our families and our dedicated, professional teachers share a strong identification with and commitment to Judaism and Israel. In our school environment, children learn by example and role modeling the universal values and morals that permeate our Jewish culture and traditions. The open and welcoming community of Congregation Beth El-Atereth
Israel provides a wonderful venue for the school community to experience every day life through a Jewish lens.
Judaic content is an integral part of our curriculum. We try to instill in the children a love of Torah and Judaism and a positive Jewish identity. Our children experience the beauty of Shabbat and the Jewish holidays, and learn the importance of Mitzvot, Chessed, Kashrut, and ethical Jewish behavior such as Hachnasat Orchim and Tza'ar Ba'alei Chayim. In order to make Israel a real and tangible entity in the children's minds, we constantly talk about the country and expose the children to Hebrew language and Israeli culture.
Through our active involvement with the BJE's Boston-Haifa Connection we are able to bring Israel into our classrooms and into our children's hearts. We are in constant communication with Rimonim, our sister school in Haifa, located in Kiryat Shmuel. The school’s director, Yehudit Karavany and her staff, send us materials, links, pictures and many tokens of appreciation from their students to ours. And we do the same.
